James D. Ambrose, Sr.
“Jim”
James Daniel Ambrose, Sr., age 78, of Stephens City, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2016, in Heritage Hall, Front Royal, Virginia.
Jim was born in 1937 in Middletown, Virginia, one of twelve children of the late Charles Franklin and Bertha C. Ambrose. He was employed as a short order cook at various grills in and around Winchester, most notably at the Snow White Grill for many years. Jim was a one a kind individual who can be remembered for his sense of humor, love of family and friends and simply enjoying life. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Jim married Patricia Richards on June 22, 1979 and September 24, 2006 in Stephens City, Virginia.
In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by three sons, James Daniel “Danny” Ambrose, Jr. and his wife Kay Beth of Winchester, Virginia, Charles David Ambrose and his wife Lois of Inwood, West Virginia, and Daryl Wayne Ambrose, Sr. and his wife Terresa of Stephens City, Virginia; two step sons, Dale Robin Ballenger and his wife Cindy, and David Wayne Ballenger and his wife Tammy, both of Stephens City, Virginia; four grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren as well as extended family members and many close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, ten brothers, and one sister.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 9, 2016, from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
A funeral service will be held at 7:00 pm, immediately following the visitation at Omps, South Chapel, with Pastor Terry Cave and Pastor Tony Layman officiating. Burial will be private at a later date.
