James Allen Suffern, Sr., 60, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at his home.
Mr. Suffern was born in 1964 in Keyser, WV, the son of the late John and Helen Suffern. He was a graduate of Keyser High School, in Keyser, WV, Class of 1982. Mr. Suffern was a Veteran having served in the United States Air Force from 1983 until 1987, later employed as a Heavy Equipment Operator with Stuart M. Perry from 1987 to 2017. He attended the Assembly of God Church.
Mr. Suffern was an avid Steeler fan, coached youth soccer and co-rec softball. He taught Sunday School and Royal Rangers. He especially loved his dogs, Andy and Molly.
He married Karen E. Cosner on September 3, 1988, in New Creek, West Virginia.
Surviving with his wife are sons, James A. Suffern, Jr. (Becka) of WV and Christopher R. Suffern of VA; one granddaughter, Clover M. Suffern; sister, Tina L. Suffern and brother, John H. Suffern, Jr. (Tammy); and nieces, Rachel Stevens (Derek), Robin Leatherman (Josh), Kendra Scheffel (Buck) and Alexis Johnson.
A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 pm in Shenandoah Memorial Park with Pastor Randy Crowe officiating. The family asks that you wear casual clothes or a sports jersey.
