Jack Tabler Ambrose, 89, of Winchester, VA, left his earthly home to sit in the first seat in the first row of the Lord’s Kingdom. He was an exemplary gentleman and will be sorely missed by his family.
Jack was born in 1934 in Berkeley Springs, WV, the son of the late Harold Ambrose, Sr., and Arvella Ruth McNamee Ambrose. He was a graduate of Martinsburg High School and attended Shepherd College. He retired from Potomac Edison in 1996 after working 43 years as a division leader. After retiring from Potomac Edison, Jack obtained his realtor’s license and worked for Oak Crest Realty in Winchester. Jack was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Winchester. He was President of the Frederick County Rotary Club. Jack was a Harris Fellow. He volunteered for Camp Fantastic and was a member of the PEforerunners club. He enjoyed golfing in his younger years and was an avid Redskins fan. Jack enjoyed family social gatherings and holidays and loved going on trips and cruises with his wife (visiting Hawaii, Russia, Aruba, Bermuda, and other destinations.) He also loved dancing.
He is survived by his wife, Irene Polhamus Ambrose, whom he married on June 16, 2012, in Winchester, VA. Jack is also survived by his sons, Jon J.T. Ambrose (Jim) of Sagaponack, NY, and Todd Ambrose of Washington, D.C. When he married Irene, he became part of a large family, including 3 stepchildren, 9 step-grandchildren, and 16 step-great-grandchildren.
Jack is preceded in death by his first wife, Rosemary Ambrose, sister, Jean Zombro, and brother, Harold Edward Ambrose.
A service will be held for Jack on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 1 pm at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. The interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery.
