J. Robert Collier
James Robert “Bob” Collier, 83, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at his home.
Mr. Collier was born in 1930, in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of the late James H. and Marion Collier. He was a graduate of The Hill School in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, Renssleaer Poly Tech where he received a Bachelor’s Degree and Ohio State receiving a Master’s Degree and PhD. Mr. Collier was a Veteran having served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was employed as an Engineer. Bob was a very active individual and enjoyed many things including flying his glider, racquetball and playing bridge. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend to many and will be greatly missed.
He married Tracy Thayer on June 27, 1981 in College Park, Maryland.
Surviving with his wife is his daughter, Jennifer Jeffers and husband William, of Savannah, Georgia; two sons, James David Collier and wife, Geneva Gail of Summit Point, West Virginia, Richard Scott Collier and wife, Rosanna of Winchester; three grandchildren; his brother, John Burton Collier and wife, Janet of Youngstown, Ohio; and former wife, Jeanne Falck Stoddard.
A Memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Friday, July 11, 2014 at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Funeral Celebrant Joseph R Dilleree officiating and will be assisted by Pastor Alan Morrison and Pastor Jim Holt.
The family will have a time of gathering for friends and family at the conclusion of the service in the Omps Funeral Home Reception Center. Friends and family can attend from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
