Dick Hoehn left a message on February 22, 2025:
I am so sorry to learn of Lowell’s death. In the past few weeks I had in mind to send him a note asking how he was doing. I met Lowell and Yvonne in 1954 when we matriculated at Capital University, and we shared eight years through college and seminary. We went separate ways to parishes and reconnected when I moved to DC about 35 years ago. I, sadly, recall Yvonne’s funeral. Good people. Two specific college memories: The college had “get acquainted” events for incoming freshmen. Willing males formed one line and females another. Then one-by-one they randomly matched and went on a date. But Lowell and Yvonne had met (I was told much later) at a summer camp, so pre-arranged their meeting and went out together. I was a little bit jealous. Second: at dances they had a magnificent twirling (not twerking) move grandly circling round the floor, worthy of a Vienna ballroom. As a board member at Capital, he once offered to nominate me for an honorary doctorate based on my university teaching, publication, etc. but I thanked him and demurred. I experienced Lowell as friendly, kind and upbeat with a good sense of humor and will miss him even though we weren’t super close, “buddies.” And now when I read his obit, I see that we may have been related via his mother, a Glenn.
