Ian S. Strachan
Ian Scott Strachan, 46, of Bunker Hill, West Virginia, passed away suddenly due to surgical complications on Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at Winchester Medical Center.
Ian was born in 1968, in Hammond, Indiana, the son of Heath and Judith Strachan. He was a graduate of Munster High School in Munster, Indiana, Class of 1986. He attended Purdue University and graduated from the University of Maryland, receiving an Associate’s Degree in International Business. He developed a career as a Business Development Director in Government Defense and Aerospace with Priority Worldwide Services in Hanover, Maryland.
On a beautiful afternoon in June of 2000, Ian and Carmen wed with their family and friends as witnesses. This was the start of a truly unique adventure in their lives. He will be forever remembered as a loving son, big little brother, husband and father.
Ian was a “people person” throughout his life. He assisted with the Wounded Warrior Project, loved adventure, golf, fishing, hunting, the outdoors and was a member of H.O.G., and the NRA. He was a gearhead with a passion for motorcycles, dirt bikes and Harleys. Ian was an incredible artist with pen and ink. He loved to travel with his job, was very witty, and had a wonderful sense of humor. He was extremely supportive and loving of his daughter – helping her excel in karate. The greatest loves of his life were his wife, Carmen and his daughter, Madilyn.
Surviving Ian are his parents, Heath and Judith Strachan, of Punta Gorda, Florida and his wife, Carmen Strachan, his daughter, Madilyn Strachan of Bunker Hill, West Virginia; sisters, Cathy Hasemeier and husband, Eric, of Sevierville, Tennessee, Diane Juckett and husband, Robert, of Prospect Heights, Illinois, Amy Maguire and husband, Kevin, of Marblehead, Massachusetts; brother, Heath Strachan and wife, Kathleen, of Houston, Texas; mother and father-in-law, James and Judith Grubbs of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; brother-in-law, Sean Grubbs and wife, Elizabeth, of Cross Junction, Virginia; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and endless friends worldwide.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, from 2:00-4:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 4:00 PM on Saturday, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Interment will be private.
