Homer Bernard Racey, 87, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Wednesday, February 27, 2013, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Racey was born in 1925, in Kirby, West Virginia, the son of the late William L. and Myrtle L. Racey. He was a Veteran having served in the United States Army from 1953-1955. Mr. Racey retired as a maintenance worker for the United States Post Office and was a member of the Hotts Chapel United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.
He married Pluma Juanita Pownell on June 5, 1949, in Kirby, West Virginia. She preceded him in death on June 11, 2008.
Surviving is his son, Warren Racey and his wife, Carol, of Winchester; grandchildren, Shannon Betts, Sheena Racey both of Winchester, Frank Parker, Matt Parker both of Slanesville, West Virginia; great grandchildren, Jackson Betts, Nicholas Betts, Brittany Parker and Matthew Parker.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his half-sisters, Florence, Evelyn, Nell and Rose.
The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Monday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Pastor Clarence Davis officiating. Interment will be in Hotts Chapel Cemetery, Kirby, West Virginia.
