Helen “Bobby” Thompson went to be with her Lord peacefully while surrounded by family on Monday, December 7, 2015, at Winchester Medical Center.
Helen was born in 1936, in Emeigh, Pennsylvania, to the late John and Anne Bobby. Helen was a devoted member of her faith and was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Winchester, Virginia. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. She will be forever remembered for her love of friends and family and living life to the fullest. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Helen is survived by her husband of 57 years, Dale Lee Thompson Sr., one son, Dale Lee Thompson Jr., and his wife Christina of White Post, Virginia; one daughter, Debra Ann Herndon of Ashburn, Virginia; eight grandchildren, Dale, Doug, Kristina, Cory, April, Kelli, Joseph and Nathaniel; two brothers, John Bobby and Steve Bobby and a great granddaughter, Allison, as well as many extended family members and close friends.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Peggy, and four brothers, Al, George, Andy and Joe Bobby .
The family will receive friends in honor of Helen Bobby Thompson’s life on Friday, from 6-8 p.m., at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 12, at 10:30 am at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Rebert, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
