Hazel Julia Gregory Geukgeuzian, 71, of Stephens City, Virginia, died Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at her home.
Mrs. Geukgeuzian was born in 1944, in Martinsburg, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Myrtle May and Franklin Forbes Gregory. She was a graduate of Martinsburg High School, Class of 1962 and Tennessee Temple University, Class of 1968, receiving a Degree in Elementary Education. She was a 4th grade teacher with Shenandoah Valley Christian Academy from (1980-2009) and with Ridgeview Christian School (1977-1979) in Stuarts Draft, Virginia. Mrs. G also taught at Northside Christian School and Faith Christian School in Charlotte, North Carolina. Mrs. Geukgeuzian was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Winchester and served as a Sunday school teacher for many years.
Hazel was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend to many. She can be forever remembered for her love of family, faith and being known as Mrs. G to so many students over the years. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She married Vahe’ Geukgeuzian on August 5, 1966, in Martinsburg, West Virginia.
Surviving with her husband of 49 years are three sons, Michael Geukgeuzian and his wife, Catherine, of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Stephen Geukgeuzian of Clearfield, Utah, Jonathan Geukgeuzian and his wife, Felicia, of Lynchburg, Virginia; grandchildren, Sean, Michael II, Rowan, Mackenzi, Megan, Jordyn and Dylan; brother, Don Gregory and his wife, Connie, of Winchester and sister-in-law, Betty Gregory of Indiana.
Her daughter-in-law, Karen Geukgeuzian and brother, Pastor John Gregory, preceded her in death.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 on Saturday, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, with Pastor Michael Grooms officiating and Pastor Greg Mergian also officiating. Entombment will be at Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum, Frederick County, Virginia.
