Hazel B. Himelright, 95, of Winchester, VA, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Winchester Medical Center.
Ms. Himelright was born in 1928 in Winchester, VA, daughter of the late Gardner and Pearl Bageant. She was a graduate of Stonewall High School and was the pitcher for the high school softball team. Ms. Himelright was a real estate agent with E.E. Bayliss Jr. Realty and Huntsberry Realty before her retirement. She was a member of Galilee Christian Church, where she was instrumental in the building of the church Fellowship Hall and was very proud of that accomplishment. Her life was fulfilled by serving the church in many capacities.
Ms. Himelright’s first husband, Roy William Ferguson, preceded her in death. Together they owned and operated Crossroads Grocery in Nain. She was also preceded in death by her second husband, Elwood “Bub” Himelright.
Surviving is a son, Roy “Mac” Ferguson and wife, Jackie; grandchild, Cole McClaine Ferguson; sister, Frances Reed; brother, Ronald Bruce Bageant and wife, Judy; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends, especially her church family.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 1 pm to 2 pm on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Galilee Christian Church, 1831 Welltown Road, Clear Brook, Virginia, with a funeral service at 2 pm. Pastor Don Moulden and Pastor John Yasem will be officiating. Interment will be in Galilee Christian Church Cemetery. A fellowship reception will follow the interment at Galilee Christian Church Fellowship Hall.
