Harold Nathaniel Gardner, Sr., 77, of Winchester, Virginia passed away Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Envoy of Winchester.
Mr. Gardner was born in 1939 in Leesburg, Florida, the son of the late Horsey Gardner and Julia Chatman. He graduated from Carver Heights High School, Class of 1958 and was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Gardner was employed tending bar and special events with the Winchester Country Club, he later became a machine operator with Rubbermaid Commercial Products retiring after 30 years of dedicated service. Daddy Kool was a one of a kind who possessed a love of life and for his family and neighbors. He was particularly known for many personal verbal one liners, his love of fishing and of course the greatest football team ever the Dallas Cowboys. Daddy Kool has made lasting impacts and friendships with so many people throughout his life and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Mr. Gardner married Gloria (Gaither) Gardner on December 8, 1966 in Hagerstown, Maryland.
Surviving is his beloved wife of 50 years, daughter, Dana Lyn Gardner and her companion Malik of Winchester, Virginia; sons, Darin Gardner and his companion Kimberly of Winchester, Virginia and Harold Gardner, Jr. of Winchester, Virginia; six grandchildren, Candace, Chad, Chane’l, Genesis, Demitri, Fortune; great grandchildren, Caden and Carter; sister, Linda Teartt of Leesburg, Florida; and brother, James Gardner and wife, Jackie of Wildwood, Florida; and daughter-in-law, Cassandra Gardner.
Mr. Gardner was preceded in death by sisters, Marjorie Smith and Betty.
The family will receive friends from 10 am to 11 am on Saturday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 11 am with Pastor Floyd Coates officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Winchester, Virginia where military honors will be afforded by V.F.W. Post 2123. A reception will follow the interment for family and friends at Omps Reception Center, Amherst Chapel.
