Guy W. Wolford
Guy W. Wolford, 87, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Wednesday, May 28, 2014, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Wolford was born in 1926, in Augusta, West Virginia, the son of the late Elmer Roy and Rosa Wolford. He was a Veteran of World War II having served in the United States Navy, achieving the rank of Seaman First Class. He received the Pacific Theater Ribbon, the American Theater Ribbon and the Victory Medal. Mr. Wolford was a self-employed truck driver. He drove for Schaffer Trucking in Pennsylvania and Simbeck Trucking in Winchester retiring in 2002. Mr. Wolford was a member of Church of Christ at Mountain View in Frederick County.
He married Armetha Didawick on July 9, 1952, in Williamsport, Maryland. She preceded him in death on November 15, 2002.
Surviving is his daughter Diane E. Wolford; son, Guy E. Wolford and wife, Linda, all of Frederick County; sisters, Blanche Hahn of Venice, Florida, and Thelma Stokes of Winchester.
His sister, Mildred Johnson and an infant sister, Hazel, preceded him in death.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Monday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with Evangelist Charles Doughty officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Frederick County, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Didawick, Andy Didawick, Ronald Didawick, George Didawick, Sammy Didawick and Justin Didawick. Honorary pallbearer will be David Didawick.
