Gordette S. Huntsberry
Edna Gordette “Getty” Schenck Huntsberry, 92, of Winchester, Virginia, died Monday, March 3, 2014, in her home.
Getty was born in 1921, in Graybull, Wyoming, the daughter of the late Clarence F. and Edith Schenck. She was a graduate of St. Joseph’s College in Emmitsburg, Maryland. Mrs. Huntsberry was an owner and employee of Schenck Foods, Inc. in Winchester. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and was known for her generosity in helping others.
She married Charles William Huntsberry on August 8, 1942. He preceded her in death on August 17, 2002.
Surviving are two daughters, Edith “Deedee” O’Brien and husband, Richard, of Salt Lake City, Utah, Lindsay Carr Murphy and husband, Dave, of Winchester; son, David C. Huntsberry of Winchester; 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Her son, Charles William Huntsberry, Jr. and brother, William F. Schenck, DDS, preceded her in death.
The family gratefully acknowledges the dedicated, round the clock caregivers, who made it possible for her to remain in her home.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 PM on Friday, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Father Stanley J. Krempa officiating. Interment will be in Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Cemetery, Winchester, Virginia.
