Gloria Poskaitis Soltis, 83, of Lake Frederick, Va., died peacefully Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014, at her home. She is best remembered for her positive attitude, abiding faith, and jitterbug dancing. She always approached strangers as new friends she had yet to meet.
Gloria was born in 1931 in Washington, D.C., the daughter of the late Clarence D. and Anna T. Bussius. She graduated from the Georgetown University School of Nursing in 1952 with a degree in nursing. She was an occupational health nurse at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Arlington, Va., a registered nurse (RN) with the Department of Justice, Immigration and Naturalization, Georgetown University Hospital, and the Central Intelligence Agency, all in Washington, D.C.; and an RN in physician offices in Bethesda, Md. She was a member of St. Bridget’s Chapel in the Field Catholic Church in Berryville, Va., and the Red Hats Society. She was a long-time member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Alexandria, Va.
Gloria married Joseph Edward Soltis Feb. 6, 1999, in Virginia. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond John Poskaitis. Surviving with her husband are two daughters, M. Michelle Poskaitis of Silver Spring, Md., and Teresa P. Albrittain of Loudoun County, Va.; a son, Mark R. Poskaitis and wife, Jill DiPasquale, of Alexandria, Va.; two nephews, Steve Bussius and wife, Judy, of Bluffton, S.C.; and Brian Poskaitis and wife, Jill, of Severna Park, Md.; two nieces, Eileen Kmetz and husband, Joe, of Nesquehoning, Pa., and Evelyn Petrash and husband, Mike, of Center Valley, Pa., and several great nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, atSt. Bridget’s Chapel in the Field, 1020 West Main Street, Berryville, Va., with Father Stanley Krempa officiating. Interment will be private.
