Glenn W. “Pooh Bear” Mitchell, Sr.
Glenn William “Pooh Bear” Mitchell, Sr., 44, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away, Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at his residence.
Mr. Mitchell was born in 1966 in Winchester, Virginia, the son of Susannah R. Mitchell of Winchester, Virginia and the late Victor E. Mitchell. He was the Assistant Manager of Food Lion in Stephens City, Virginia. Since age 5, he has been an avid Indianapolis Colts fan. He was a 1984 graduate of James Wood High School and received an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Business from Lord Fairfax Community College. Mr. Mitchell was an active member of First Christian Church, where he served as Deacon, Youth and Education Committee member, was member of the Young Adults Class, participated with the Apple Butter Program, and helped maintain the grounds. He was an active bowler, where he was a member of the team “Chip and Scratch”. He enjoyed the Winchester Speedway and was a mechanic for Race Car Team #30. For the past six years, he drove the Queen’s float in the Apple Blossom Grand Feature Parade.
Surviving with his mother, are three children, Carey Diane Mitchell, Glenn W. Mitchell, Jr., and Samuel Aaron Mitchell, all of Herndon, Virginia; a brother, Robert L. Mitchell and his wife, Kathryn of Winchester, Virginia; two nephews, Benjamin and Nicholas Mitchell; numerous aunts and uncles; and his special companion, Laura Fletcher of Winchester, Virginia.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Monday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with Pastor Robert Lovett and Pastor Joan Rainsberger officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Bradley Edwards, Richard Edwards, Timothy Sutphin, Brent Hottle, Mark “Bubba” Vance, Scott Merryman, James Saville, Marcus Shanholtzer, Matt Shanholtzer, Gary Lofton, and Robbie Cather.
The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
