Gerald C. “Jerry” Bain
Gerald Carlyle “Jerry” Bain, 75, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at home.
Mr. Bain was born in 1937 in Pound, Virginia, the son of the late Ulmer and Marie Bain. He was a graduate of Mount Vernon High School in Alexandria. Mr. Bain was a Veteran having served in the Coast Guard where he was a Lighthouse Manager in Pedasi, Panama. He achieved the rank of E-4 (Electronics Specialist and Radar Specialist). He was a Building Equipment Mechanic with Verizon retiring in 2002. Mr. Bain attended the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Winchester and was member of the NRA and TEA Party.
Mr. Bain enjoyed hunting, fishing and the challenge of living a self-reliant lifestyle. He took pride in sharing that knowledge with his family. Gerald loved to travel and after living in a variety of states, he and his wife were able to spend several years travelling across country, a lifelong dream.
He married Jacqueline Arlene Spangenberg, daughter of the late Don and Ada Spangenberg of Hamilton, Ohio on May 6, 1958 in Alexandria, Virginia.
Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Linda Bain Chumbley and husband, Noel, of Little Elm, Texas, Catherine Bain Kell and husband, James, of Burleson, Texas; son, Michael H. Bain of Middletown, Virginia; grandchildren, Errin Chumbley, Justin McEnaney, Sarah Silvius and Jeffrey Kell; great grandchildren, Amira Van Hook and Dylan Silvius; brothers, Roger Bain and wife, Vivian, of Front Royal, and Kendall Bain and wife, Candy, of Winchester.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, prior to the service, from 4:00-5:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A memorial service will be conducted at 5:00 PM on Saturday, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Pastor Wayne Spangenberg officiating.
