George M. Batcha
George Michael Batcha, 82, of Winchester, Virginia, formerly of Youngstown, Ohio, died Sunday, November 27, 2011, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Batcha was born in 1929, in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of the late Michael and Anne Batcha. He was a retired Quality Control Engineer and Manager with General Electric. Mr. Batcha was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 3572 – 4th Degree, having served as Financial Secretary for 18 years. George was an avid golfer and made a hole in one on the eighth hole, on the white course, at the Shenandoah Valley Country Club.
His wife, Gloria Jean Campbell Batcha, whom he married on April 26, 1952, in Struthers, Ohio, preceded him in death on July 8, 2002.
Surviving are two daughters, Peggy Fishel, of Winchester, Virginia, Kathleen Batcha, of Key Largo Florida; two sons, Michael C. Batcha and his wife, Kelly, of Macon, Georgia, Thomas E. Batcha and his wife, Tammy, of Middletown, Virginia; one son in law, Mark Fishel, of Whitacre, Virginia; two grandsons, Clint and Chris Fishel and a sister Ruth Zabel of Sanford, North Carolina. One sister, Genevieve Johnson, preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Friday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Father Stanley J. Krempa officiating. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Winchester, Virginia, with Military Honors accorded by VFW Post 2123, Winchester, Virginia. A luncheon will follow the burial in Muldowney Hall at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.
Pallbearers will be the Knights of Columbus, Council 3572.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with a Knights of Columbus Rosary recitation at 8:00 PM at the Funeral Home.
