Mr. George B. Nicholson, 91, of Winchester, Virginia, died Monday, November 25, 2013, at Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Nicholson was born in Madison County, Virginia, in 1922, the son of the late George D. and Inez F. Nicholson. He was a retired bus driver for the City of Winchester. He attended Woodbine Assembly of God Church in Clear Brook, Virginia. He served with the United States Navy during World War II in both the North Atlantic and the South Pacific.
He married Elsie V. Nicholson in Baltimore, Maryland, on November 30, 1941. Mrs. Nicholson preceded him in death on July 10, 1996.
He is survived by three children, Diane Smith and her husband, Karol, of Capon Bridge, West Virginia; Gary Nicholson of Winchester, Virginia, and George W. Nicholson and his wife, Rose, of Mt. City, Tennessee. One brother, five sisters, and one grandchild preceded him in death. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 5 great, great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Omps Funeral Home South Chapel on Monday from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted on Monday at 1:00 P.M. at Omps Funeral Home South Chapel with Pastor Louis Whitford, III officiating. Burial will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
Mr. Nicholson’s grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
