Gay Ann Patton, 83 of Winchester, VA, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at her home.
Gay was born in 1941 in Winchester, VA, the daughter of the late Ray and Nancy Miller. She was a graduate of James Wood High School, Class of 1959. Gay retired as owner/operator of The Door Mouse Gift Shop. She was a member of Burnt Presbyterian Church. Gay enjoyed gardening, floral arranging, craft shows, and vacations to Williamsburg. Her greatest joy came from caring for others. Gay was always there for family, pitching in with any tasks or just being there to listen and offer support. She cared for both her Grandchildren and her Parents as they aged. Gay’s parents greatly enjoyed the many times she picked them up to spend the day with her and Linda at the gift shop. Gay took pride in rescuing and caring for any animal that needed a home, dogs, cats, and numerous baby birds even a tortoise that was injured by the family lawn mower. He was seen a couple years later, recognized by the large section of his shell that had grown back due to Gay’s care. Gay’s greatest concern was always others. Her kindness and caring will be greatly missed.
She married James “Jim” Daffin Patton on June 15, 1958, and he preceded her in death on January 8, 2024.
Gay is survived by her children, Kim Darr (Dennis), Debbie Patton and Jim Patton (Christie); grandchildren, Nick Patton, Chris Patton, Faith Patton, Jez Patton, Lakyra Vest, Tyler Darr and Connor Darr and her sister, Linda Bryant.
A visitation will be held for Gay on Friday, October 25, 2024, at 9:30am with a memorial service to be conducted at 10am all held at Burnt Presbyterian Church. Interment will be private.
