Gary Lane Dalton, 71, of Wardensville, West Virginia passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at Winchester Medical Center.

Mr. Dalton was born on November 28, 1946 in Hillsville, Virginia, the son of the late Luke and Icely Dalton. He graduated from Hillsville High School. In 1971 he founded Underground Cable Construction Company Inc, in Fairfax, Virginia, burying cable for C&P Telephone Company and Virginia Power and Electric. In 1987 he changed course for the company doing Hoe Ram work for Builders and Contractors. The business is thriving today under the management of his son, Michael Dalton. After semi-retiring from the company, after 30+ years, he relocated to Wardensville, to a farm that was purchased in 1973. His greatest passion was the farm, as well as hunting and fishing. Many people in Wardensville, who knew him, have been the recipient of Gary’s free heart and knowledge.

He married Regina Quesenberry on July 3, 1965 in Rockville, Maryland.

Surviving with his wife of 53 years is a daughter, Kim Dalton of Wardensville, West Virginia and a son, Michael Dalton of Gainesville, Virginia; sister, Patsy Maus (Cleve) of Tallahassee, Florida; sisters-in-law, Ann Moore of Front Royal, Virginia, Patricia Cox of Sylvatus, Virginia, Renae Funkhouser of Front Royal, Virginia; brothers-in-law, Tommy Quesenberry (Mary) of Huddleston, Virginia, Russell Quesenberry (Susan) of Huddleston, Virginia, and James Quesenberry of Hillsville, Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents Gary was preceded in death by brothers, Silvin and Larry Dalton.

A celebration of life party will be held at a later date.

I first met Gary through Tommy Quesenberry and worked for him for quite a few years. Then went into business for myself. Gary taught me what real work ethics meant. He was a class one fella to work for. We used to fish together in the outer banks which a lot of fun. When I married Dee we would go to gatherings he and Regina would throw and Dee always said wow I've never seen so much yummy food in one place. I just lost my second sister Theresa and I know how you all are feeling. Please let us know if we can do anything for you, Kim and Mike. You are in our prayers and Gary will be sincerely missed. remember all the tips we took together as well as fishing here on the outer banks of north carolina. my favorite memory was when i knew he was coming to the outer banks and i was not going to be here. i had 5 dozen soft shell crabs in my freezer. i told him to help himself. when i got home all 5 dozen crabs were gone. he asked me later if i intended for him to have all 5 dozen. we had a good laugh about that one. what a true loss for us all.

A pleasure and Blessings to have met and been part of his Wardensville friends. Loved to see him laugh and the last time was most enjoyable, he had a couple jokes to tell me, i already had heard them but i heartily laughed anyway. How fragile the time we have hear, my heart is very sad for you his family and your loss and i must admit i have felt heart pain much more for our loss. Hopefully you will have peace and comfort, with very sincere sympathy

Never knew him personally but he was a very good friend of my dad Neil dolly and he was very fond of him so he must have been a good man may he Rest In Peace and condolence to the family

I met Gary when my sister and he first started dating. Over the 50+ years we became more than in-laws. We worked, hunted, fished and build a lot of things that now looking back were not just material, they were great memories. The best was the true friendship, there isn’t many of those in your life. Mary and I had the best adventures, laughs and memories with Gary and Regina over so many years. There are no words to describe how much we will miss Gary. He touched so many people that he met through work and where he lived. The biggest passion was doing things right. That shows in the company’s he built and there Home farm in Wardensville. Here he met and became friends with so many people doing what he loved, hunting, farming, building and helping others when he could. Gary leaves a great void in a lot of our lives the biggest, his wife Regina, daughter Kim and son Mike who I know he loved more than anything else. We are all better by having Gary Dalton in our lives. We love him, we will miss him but we will never forget him. Hold on to the memories sister the hurt will lessen with time. I first met Gary when he and my sister started dating. I immediately bonded with him and later when he and my sister married he became a staple to the family. I learned many things from Gary about life, work and what kind of person I wanted to be. Gary was always a hard working successful business person and shared his wealth with family and friends. He was always the highlight of any event either organized by he and Regina or one he was just attending. Gary was a role model and inspiration in his personal and business life. He will be greatly missed.

Gary was a good friend. He was an extremely hard worker. His business sense was extra ordinary. As teenagers He, Regina, my late husband Ronnie and I had a lot of great times. Gary will be sadly missed.

Your personality was larger than life and your heart was even larger. You gave so much of yourself to everyone you met. You will be greatly missed! Regina, Mike and Kim may you find peace and comfort in this most difficult time. I love you guys ❤️
