It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a well lived life, we celebrate the life of Freda Fay Powers, 79, who peacefully reunited with loved ones that held her heart on June 25, 2026, at her home in Bunker Hill, West Virginia.

Born on April 27, 1947, in Capitol Heights, Maryland, Freda was the cherished daughter of Kenneth Harmon and Mary Staples (Goins) and shared a lifelong bond with her inseparable twin sister, Bessie Blankenship.

She grew into a woman whose strength, kindness, and devotion to those she loved would leave a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Freda was best known to friends and family as someone who never hesitated to speak the truth, offering guidance, perspective, and love along the way. To know Freda, was truly to love her.
Alongside her loving husband of forty plus years, William “Bill” Powers, they created a home filled with love, memories, and countless gatherings of family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her dear parents Kenneth and Mary, her husband Bill, and her twin sister Bessie.

Out of all the roles she held, none brought her greater pride than being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Freda is lovingly survived by her devoted son, Clay Powers (partner Tammy); her three granddaughters, Kymberly Wolfe (husband Wesly), Rebecca Eichelberger (fiancé Kevin), and Casey Burns; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Aiden, Gavin, Sarah, Grace, and Jameson.

Through them, her spirit, values, and love will continue to live on. Though we mourn her absence, we celebrate her legacy. Until we meet again, thank you for your love, your sacrifices, your wisdom, and your example to keep going, keep loving, and never stop fighting.

A visitation will be held from 12:30 pm – 1 pm on Tuesday, July 7th at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with a funeral service at 1 pm with Pastor Sanford Silver Jr. officiating.
