Faye V. Weidig
Faye Virginia Patton Weidig, 86, of Winchester, Virginia, died Sunday, April 8, 2012, in Evergreen’s Journey Unit.
Mrs. Weidig was born in Winchester, Virginia, in 1925, the daughter of the late Albert Ross and Lottie Patton. She was a Teacher’s Aide serving for 23 years with the Winchester School System and a Pre-school Music Teacher with First United Methodist Church for 12 years. Mrs. Weidig was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Golden Link Sunday School Class, Amy’s Kitchen Band and the Ladies Civic League. In addition, she was a member of the Shenandoah Region Antique Car Club. She and her husband were honored by the City of Winchester as Citizens of the Year in 2003. Mrs. Weidig was a graduate of John Handley High School, Class of 1943. She was known for her masterful skills on the piano and the many hours of enjoyment she provided for herself and others.
She married George Louis Weidig, Sr. on July 20, 1945, in Greenville, Mississippi.
Surviving with her husband, are two daughters, Denise Adams and husband, Ellis, of Winchester, Virginia and Judy Wiltshire and husband, John, of Mebane, North Carolina; one son, Dr. George L. Weidig, Jr. and wife, Becky, of Harrisonburg, Virginia; six grandchildren, Jack Wiltshire of Denver, North Carolina, Chris Wiltshire of Graham, North Carolina, Jenny Stiltner of Richmond, Virginia, Vaughan Clark of Richmond, Virginia, Sarah Weidig of Brooklyn, New York, and Kelsey Adams of Bridgewater, Virginia; and two great grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Ryan Wiltshire.
One sister, Betty Martin, preceded her in death on April 8, 2008.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Reverend Will White officiating. Inurnment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Robert Pierce, Christopher Wiltshire, Jack Wiltshire, Turner W. Martin, Mike Foreman and Jimmy Patton.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
