Earnest Leo Mabe, Sr., 82 of Winchester, VA, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Care Center.

Leo was born in 1942 in Tazwell, VA, the son of the late Henry and Audrey Mabe. He retired as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Raymond Riley Construction. Leo was a member of the Winchester Eagles Club. He loved fishing, crocheting, working with wood and watching westerns.

He married Velma “Peti” Kestner on April 3, 1964, in Jefferson, MD and she preceded him in death on July 13, 2023.

Leo is survived by his daughter, Teressa Lynn Maher (Ronald); sons, Earnest Leo Mabe, Jr. (Stacey) and Donald Allen Mabe (the late Becky); grandchildren, Tamara (Sam), Tiffany (Mike) and Gage (Kaitlyn); great-grandchildren, Zoey, Wyatt, Kaiden and Kase; sisters, Jannie and Corlis and his brother, Jimmy.

In addition to his parents and wife, Leo is preceded in death by his sisters, Jean and Wanda and brothers, Bob and Jackie.

A visitation will held for Leo on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at 11am with a service to follow at 12pm all held at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
