Ernest Bradford Campbell, II, 59 of Winchester, VA, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, peacefully at his home surrounded by family.

Ernie was born in 1965 in Front Royal, VA, the son of Ernest and Judy Campbell. He retired in 2024 as an Analyst for the FBI. Ernie was a member of Relief United Methodist Church and Moose Lodge #1283.

He is survived by his wife, Sheryl whom he married on May 20, 1995, daughter, Lauren Graves (Garland), son, Nicholas Campbell, sister, Missy Abel (Michael), their sons, Ryan and Nathan Abel, and a wide circle of extended family and friends who will forever remember his generous spirit, kind heart, and epic pranks.

He was a man who cherished good times, and his infectious laughter was a testament to his love for life. No matter the occasion, Ernie knew how to make every moment special. Even during his illness, he kept spirits high with his classic dad jokes that never failed to bring a smile to faces. His family was his pride and joy, and he dedicated his life to ensuring they were always supported and loved.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Amol Narang of Johns Hopkins and Nurse Patty of Blue Ridge Hospice, whose compassionate care and unwavering support were instrumental during Ernie’s battle with pancreatic cancer. Their dedication and kindness provided comfort and strength to Ernie and his family.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 26, 2024, at 11am followed by a celebration of life at 12pm at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Interment will follow at Shenandoah Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 540-313-9200 or Johns Hopkins Pancreatic Cancer Research Center, 443-287-7949 in Ernie’s memory.

I had the pleasure of working with Ernie. If ever there was a man who people only thought well of, and associated with kindness and heart, it was Ernie. He always had a kind word and a smile for those around him, and was known for a strong work ethic. He could always be counted on for a job well done. God bless his family. I know this is a painful loss.

Ernie was one of my first supervisors when I was starting out. He was an absolute pleasure to work for every night. I will miss you, Ernie.

I send my condolences to Cheryl and the family I found out today about Ernie’s passing through another friend I worked with Ernie at food lion He was my store manager and we had a good crew of employees and Ernie always made us laugh but more importantly he listened to us and saw us all and we were not only coworkers but friends and we all were like family He treated everyone fair and was a good manager I know he will be missed by many I will always have fond memories and stories from Food Lion working with Ernie I think all the Food Lion family that worked with him will And I pray for Cheryl and his whole family at this time And Ernie R.I.P. and go rest high on that mountain

Ernie was one of my first supervisors at my new job. He made everybody feel productive and welcome. I really enjoyed working for him.

I worked with Ernie at the FBI and he was a joy to work with, I loved the fact he was always happy and upbeat! If he had a bad day at work, you would never know it! My heart goes out to his wife and children.

I had the privilege to work with Ernie, he always knew how to make us laugh and smile.

Ernie was a very kind person with a smile for everyone. He will be missed. May his memory bring comfort in the days to come.
