Emmagene Faye Omps Dorsey, 86, of Bunker Hill, West Virginia passed away Thursday, June 15, 2017, at Inova Fairfax Hospital.
Ms. Dorsey was born in 1931 in Capon Bridge, West Virginia, the daughter of the late H. Herschel and Nellie A. Omps. She was a graduate of James Wood High School, Class of 1951. Ms. Dorsey was a secretary at Bunker Hill Elementary School and at one time a Teacher’s Aide at John Street Elementary School in Martinsburg, West Virginia. She retired from the tourism industry for the State of West Virginia. Ms. Dorsey was a member of the Winchester Eagles, the Red Hat Society and would gather with her classmates from Stonewall School. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed bird watching, volunteered at the Women’s Auxiliary at Winchester Medical Center and a caregiver to many family members and friends. She would always remember to send greeting cards to family and friends, be it anniversary, birthday, graduation…she had her calendar full to remind her of these special occasions. Ms. Dorsey was a member of Bunker Hill Brethren in Christ Church and volunteered her services in many ways.
Surviving is her beloved companion, Donald W. McCarty; daughters, Karen D. Trenary and husband, James of Bunker Hill, West Virginia, Kathy D. Wood and husband, Douglas of Back Creek Valley, West Virginia, and Michelle D. Burris and husband, Richard of Hedgesville, West Virginia; grandchildren, Stephanie, J.D.(Caroline), Josh, Andrea (David), Matthew (Candace), Megan (Matthew), Casey, Billy Ray, Amanda, and Ricky; great grandchildren, Frankie, Andy, Hunter, Emma Jane, and Evan; brothers, Keven Omps of Bloomery, West Virginia and John Omps of Berryville, Virginia; father of her children, Phineas L. Dorsey.
Ms. Dorsey was preceded in death by a son, Mark P. Dorsey.
The family will receive friends from 6 pm to 8 pm on Sunday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 pm on Monday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Street with Pastor Raymond Martin officiating. Interment will be in Paynes Chapel Cemetery, Bunker Hill, West Virginia.
Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, J.D., Matthew W., Billy Ray, Joshua, Dave, and Matthew F. Honorary pallbearers will be Frankie, Andy, Hunter, and Evan.
