Elaine S. Ross

Mrs. Elaine Shonrock Ross, age 88, of Winchester, Virginia, died Monday, February 6, 2012, at the Winchester Medical Center.

Mrs Ross was born in 1923 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of the late Henry and Martha Shonrock. She was a homemaker and a member of the Lutheran faith. Elaine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who had a passion for life and will be greatly missed by all.

She married James Herbert Ross on February 19, 1944, in Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Ross died on February 11, 1992.

Surviving are three sons: James M. Ross and wife, Kay of Winchester, VA, Richard A. Ross and wife, Lizabeth, of Kensington MD, and Thomas N. Ross of Springfield, VA; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren, and a brother, William Shonrock of South Padre Island, Texas. She was preceded in death by a sister, Marge Alexander, and two brothers, Arthur and Dale Shonrock.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, February 10, 2012 at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with Reverend Anthony Layman officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Hebron Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, on Thursday evening, from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M.
