Effie (Pringos) Levathes, 96, of Frederick Co., VA, died Monday, February 16, 2015, at the Village at Orchard Ridge in Winchester, Virginia. 

         She was born February 20, 1918 in Petersburg, VA daughter of the late Antonio and Smaragda (Pappas) Pringos.  Effie was employed by the YMCA where she worked as a secretary retiring in 1980.  After retirement, she stayed home to raise her family.  In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her daughter Maria L. Sherin, her sister, Theodora Pringos and her brother, Andrew Pringos. 

         She is survived by her beloved husband, Louis Levathes whom she united in marriage with on September 4, 1943; her daughter, Georgia L. Cullum; her sister, Antonia Pringos and also survived by her three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. 

         Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation Friday, from 6-8PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel – 1600 Amherst St. – Winchester, VA.  There will be a Trisagion Service at 7pm. 

         A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday at 12:00 pm at The Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church -1700 Amherst St. – Winchester, VA.  Interment will follow in Mt. Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, VA.

         In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in memory of Effie may be made to the Alzheimer’s Disease Assoc. P.O. Box 96011 Washington, D.C. 20090-6011.
