Edith L. Wilfong Armel, 84, of Stephens City, Virginia, passed away Thursday, August 15th, 2024, at her home.
Edith was born in 1940 in Randolph County, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Denzil and Nellie Wilfong. She retired from P. W. Plumly Lumber after 45 years. Her greatest joys were spending time with her family and watching her western TV shows. She loved to bake and drink coffee.
Edith married the late Melvin Armel Sr. in 1958 and had 4 children. She later met the love of her life and long-time life partner, the late Charles (Buddy) Whitacre.
Surviving are her 4 children, Melvin Armel Jr (Tina Blake), Dana Rhodes (Joey), Timothy Armel (Shelia) and Donna Canoles (Ronnie Wiles). Three grandchildren, Ashley Hoffman (Tyson), Shane Duvall (Chrismery) and Joey Rhodes II (Brittany). Two great grandchildren, Harper Rhodes and Maverick Hoffman. Her brothers, Randy, Jack, and Scott Wilfong.
She was preceded in death by husband, Melvin Armel Sr., long-time partner, Charles (Buddy) Whitacre, grandson, Bradley Bly, sisters, Mary Hudson and Edna Webster and brothers, Walt and Cecil Wilfong.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, from 6:00 -8:00 pm, at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at 11:00 am at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel. Entombment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum.
A reception will follow Entombment at the Elks Lodge #867.
