Edith D. “Dede” Whitham
Edith “Dede” Dunn Whitham, 94, of Winchester, Virginia, died Thursday, October 23, 2014, at Westminster Canterbury.
Mrs. Whitham was born in 1920, in Winchester, Virginia, the daughter of the late William W. Dunn and Rebecca H. Eddy. Mrs. Whitham was a graduate of John Handley High School. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Winchester where she served on the Alter Guild. Mrs. Whitham was a member of the Winchester Country Club, Ladies Auxiliary Horticulture Society and Old Fredericktowne Garden Club. She was also a member of the Winchester Medical Center Auxiliary.
She married Gordon Thomas Whitham on September 11, 1943, in Winchester, Virginia. He preceded her in death on April 29, 2003.
Surviving are two daughters, Kimball W. Brown (Jeffrey) of Front Royal, Virginia, Catherine W. Watson (Jerry) of Monetta, South Carolina; four grandchildren, Catherine Brown Foster (Chris), Thomas W. Brown, Jerrold Watson, III, Rebecca E. Watson and two brothers, William W. Dunn of Stephens City, Virginia and John V. Eddy, Jr. of Winchester.
A memorial service will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Westminster Canterbury.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Tuesday in Mount Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, Virginia with Reverend Elizabeth Lewis and Reverend Larry Lawhon officiating.
