Earnestine Jenkins, 75, of Berryville, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 in Winchester Medical Center.
Earnestine was born in 1943 in Washington, D.C., the daughter of the late Carl William and Eva Inez Langston. Daughter of a North Carolina sharecropper, she moved to Virginia and married Paul Jenkins. They lived on several orchards in Clarke County and then several dairy farms throughout Loudoun County while raising six children. She also worked as a child care provider for many years. Earnestine was a 15-year member of the Loudoun Valley Church of the Nazarene. She was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. She enjoyed making candy every year, was famous for her cheesecake, and made some of the best fried chicken and biscuits. She had a great passion for all children and babies. In her later years, she enjoyed her time at the senior center. And let us not forget what a huge fan she was of the Redskins. She has certainly touched many lives in many ways. Earnestine was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend who will be greatly missed.
Earnestine is survived by her daughters, Terry L. Butts (Andrew) of Martinsburg, West Virginia and Melinda Ann Harriott (Frank) of Ankeny, Iowa; her sons, Paul W. Jenkins, Jr. (Debby) of Boyce, Virginia and William Earl Jenkins (Melinda) of Dublin, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Carol Jarman (Albert) of New Bern, North Carolina, Mawrine Jarman of New Bern, North Carolina, and Louise Forrest (Jimmy) of Hagerstown, Maryland; and former husband, Paul W. Jenkins, Sr.
Preceding her in death are daughters, Debra Kay Darr and Beverly Denise Tye; brother, Jerry Edward Langston, and brother-in-law, Ken Jarman.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 11th from 2:00 until 3:00 pm with a funeral service to follow at 3:00 pm, all at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel. Officiating will be Pastor Bruce Gardner. A graveside service will be conducted on Monday at 2:00 pm at Shenandoah Memorial Park, Winchester, Virginia.
