Our son Nick loved to go and visit with "Miss Dot", especially on Halloween and during Christmas. When we moved in he was 18 months, he grew very fond of her over the past 8 years. We will miss having Dot as our neighbor. Our condolences to the Arrick family.
J S Lawn Service/ Jeff Lupton left a message on October 11, 2013:
We J S Lawn Service have been working with Dorothy for a long time with her lawn care needs and landscaping. I always enjoyed talking with her when I was there working and she loved to watch us work in her yard. She enjoyed her pretty flowers and bushes. I will miss her very deeply and our condolences to the family. Jeff

What a joy it was to know Dottie! I knew her through my work at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley, where she was a dedicated volunteer. Our friendship grew and I loved her stories of her nursing career and how she met her husband when she was the nurse on the Seaboard Coastline RR. Those were the days! Dear Dorothy Arrick will be missed by all who knew her.

How sad! I first met Dot in 1964, and learned she an graduated from the same nursing school, only she declined to wear the JHW "standard" cap! Typical Dot! She was a dedicated nurse and excellent at her job. She and John prepared many delightful meals for my husband and I, and introduced us to Beef Fondue! Until her health took its toll, she and I traveled to Richmond each May and met other Johnston-Willis Nurses for an Annual Luncheon. I will miss her!
