Dorleen Virginia Whitacre, 79 of Stephens City, VA, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Lynn Care in Front Royal.

Dorleen was born in 1945 in Cold Stream, WV, the daughter of the late Roy Robert Whitacre, Sr. and Ivy Whitacre. She was a graduate of Capon Bridge High School. Dorleen was a devoted worshipper and member of the Church of the Good Shepherd. She also loved reading her bible. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking, especially her homemade bread and Christmas cookies. Dorleen loved watching football and was an avid Cowboy’s fan and also an Elvis fan. She loved and adored spending time with her granddaughters and great-granddaughters.

She is survived by her daughter, Heather Wagner Sine (Steve Wagner) of Manassas, VA; sons, Jeff Kerns (Donna) of Stephens City, VA, Christopher Kerns (Teresa) of Berkeley Springs, WV, Todd Kerns of Stephens City, VA; grandchildren, Amber Adams (Brian) of Stephens City, VA, Brandy Kerns of Berkeley Springs, WV, Izzy Kerns of Stephens City, VA; great-grandchildren, Kyla and Kelsie Adams 0f Stephens City, VA; brother, Philip Dutton Whitacre and half-sister, Patty Landis.

In addition to her parents, Dorleen is preceded in death by her brothers, Allen Grant Whitacre, Roy R. Whitacre, Jr.; half-sister, Deborah Diane Puffenberger and half-brother, Ricky Lee Whitacre.

A visitation will be held for Dorleen on Friday, May 9, 2025, at 9am with a service to be conducted at 10 am all held at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor Vernon Bray.
