Doris J. Grove, 95 of Bealeton, VA, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024, at her home.

Doris was born in 1929 in West Virginia, the daughter of the late Bryant Mitchell Rice and Louise Margaret (Bell) Rice. She was a high school graduate who retired from the Department of Defense. Doris was a jack of all trades and above all else she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her daughter, Eve M. Duvall (R. Allen), grandchildren, Joseph A. Duvall (Tiffany), Christopher R. Duvall and great-grandchildren, Max J. Duvall and Lucy M. Duvall.

Along with her parents, Doris is preceded in death by her husband, Russell W. “Mike” Grove who passed in 2012, grandson, Thomas A. Duvall, great-granddaughter, Audrey M. Duvall, sisters, Helen Hanlin, Zella Wallace and her brother, Fred Rice.

A visitation will be held for Doris on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at 11am with a service to follow at 12pm all held at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Whitacre, VA. Pastor Ben Heflin will officiate.

Doris was my paternal great aunt. She was always a voice of calm and love. She, to me, was what a woman should be, patient, kind, emphatic, and loving. I will always cherish the memory of her saying my father’s name with so much love and her sweet southern drawl. God be with you Aunt Doris. Rest in peace.

I met Mrs. Groce over 45 years ago what I remember is her sweet smile, gentle confidence and her wonderful accent! Everyone was always welcome in her home! She loved her family dearly! Our prayers are with Eve and the family! Our loss is Heavens gain. Willie and Carol Heflin❤️

Aunt Doris was a precious soul; the salt of the earth! She would have the coffee pot on when you came to visit. She was simply the sweetest, most down-home lady that you would ever want to meet. We love you and will miss you, dear Aunt Doris! Our deepest sympathies to Eve and the family.
