Dora Lee Hardy, 68, of Frederick County, Virginia passed away peacefully on Monday, August 14, 2017, at Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Care Facility surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Hardy was born in 1948 in Upperville, Virginia, the daughter of the late Thomas and Esther Rose. She was a graduate of Loudoun Valley High School. Mrs. Hardy retired in 2005 from the U.S. Government Fish and Wildlife, Shepherdstown, West Virginia. She had previously been employed at the Department of Interior for Off Shore Drilling in Herndon, Virginia. Mrs. Hardy played softball for many years, coached softball, and coached cheerleading. She was a member of Leesburg Baptist Church. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother that will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mrs. Hardy married Dennis Hardy, Sr. on July 13, 1968 in Frederick, Maryland.
Surviving with her beloved husband of 49 years are daughters, Denise Ramey (Johnny) of Berryville, Virginia and Julie Gray of Charlestown, West Virginia; son, David Hardy, Jr. (Sarah) of Fredericksburg, Virginia; grandchildren, Jared, Kiley, and Dana Ramey; Leigha and Trenton Gray; James and Faith Hardy; sisters, Helen Stevens of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, Sherry Garrison of Bluemont, Virginia, Pam Gaal of Florida, and Debbie Fogle of West Virginia; brothers, Penny, Tom, and Mike Rose.
Mrs. Hardy was preceded in death by a brother, Don Rose.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with a memorial service to follow at 1 p.m. with Reverend Dr. Ken Patrick officiating. Interment will be private.
