I had the honor to be in a small group Bible study with Dolores for a few years, and she was a super special lady with a very sweet spirit and soul. The memory of her gentle, thoughtful, and caring spirit will be treasured by many. It's comforting to know she's in the presence of the Lord in the heavenly realm.

We feel great sadness at the passing of Dolores, but are so honored to have known her for a short time. As it happens, because of her long-time friendship with Lena Cuomo, she was a guest at our daughter/son-in-law’s wedding in June 2000, at Raspberry Falls in Leesburg. Unfortunately, even though we were probably introduced, it is sad that we did not cultivate a friendship until a couple of years ago when we met on a Sunday morning at Cornerstone Chapel. By that time, Dolores and Gene had retired and moved to Winchester and our crossing of paths was very infrequent. Unfortunately, it was about the time that her health challenges began to surface. We will always cherish the memory of our recent visit to Winchester to meet for lunch and a quick visit to the Miller’s lovely home for watermelon on the deck. We had no idea that would be our last time together. It was so interesting to hear Gene tell Dolores’s life story. What a talented lady, so cultured and educated, yet always expanding her repertoire. Having heard her story, I would love to sit and ask a ton of questions and request expanded explanations on her many experiences. What a special treat it was to hear her vocal recordings. She had a lovely voice -- crisp and pitch perfect. What a unique blessing to share recordings of her songs with her friends and relatives at the memorial service. We will miss her and look forward to the day when we shall meet up with her again in heaven. Perhaps then, we can ask all the questions and enjoy the details of her travels and wide diversity of experiences. Suzanne & Steve Pummill Ashburn, VA

When I think of Dolores, the first thought is of her smile. Dolores was always smiling. 🙂 Dolores was a soft-spoken, gentle woman of wisdom who had such elegant grace in what she thoughtfully said and did. I always enjoyed our conversations and of Dolores’s enthusiasm and zest for knowledge. I fondly remember our visit with Dolores and Gene in Williamsburg recently and so enjoyed our time with them and in taking in the views. At the end of our visit, Dolores bought a hot pad that says, “Good times with good friends make the best memories.” What an appropriate gift! Another fond memory was when Dolores made spaghetti ad’alio d’oro (with olive oil and fried garlic) when we stayed at their home one weekend. I was recently in Italy and decided to have a plate of this dish, thinking of and celebrating Dolores’s life. Loving music, I know that Dolores is singing in the heavenly choir, a bright light illuminating the Savior Whom she loved. We do not grieve as the world, knowing that Dolores is present with the Lord, but her friendship and joy will be greatly missed. Gene, you are in Dennis’s and my prayers that the Lord will comfort you in this difficult time. May He surround you with His loving Presence, Strength and Peace. 🙏🙏🙏. Love, Deanna and Dennis Jenkins

From my apparent impromptu gymnastics as a child to baking cookies to visits in Virginia to sharing recipes to countless long phone talks over the years, Aunt D. was the most wonderful aunt anyone could ask for! We grieve with hope, in the confidence that we have far more future joy than even the past many years.

What a dear, sweet friend Dolores is!! She is still alive, just at another location --in Heaven-- so I am using the present tense. She and her husband Gene led our Bible study in Virginia Beach (more years ago than I can recall now), and I always found her spirit to be loving, kind, and warm. She is someone you wanted to be around--always quick to laugh and find something funny. and I know she is doing more laughing now than ever before in here life- I look forward to hearing that laugh again! She is dearly missed but I feel we shall see her again sooner than we might imagine, for the time is drawing closer for the return of our Lord. She was ready to meet Him. I pray we will all take our salvation that seriously because we must each choose Christ as our Savior. No one else can choose for us. Please make sure you know where you are going, just as Dolores did.
Peace of mind is a call away. We're here when you need us most.

I was blessed to have had Dolores in my life. We attended the same college, Riders College in Lawrenceville, NJ, but we met in Princeton University. It was during the Jesus Movement when there were coffee houses on campus with music. Our meeting began with music, singing and laughter!! Dolores played the guitar and we began singing in various places. She had an amazing voice, perfect pitch!!! I instead didn't have perfect pitch and I'd know cause when we were singing she would give me a look and I'd shape up!!! We became room mates for a semester while at college and I was blessed to have her sing at my wedding!! We stayed in touch for many years. As a matter of fact . Less then a year ago, we happened to meet again Cornerstone Chapel in Leesburg VA. We hugged and laughed and laughed!! Thank you Lord for allowing us to see one another again. It was amazing! My dear friend you will be missed! You brought such joy, peace and love to all who knew you and you were blessed with an amazing husband. Gene I send my condolences and will keep you in my prayers!! God bless you....Lena

Dolores was my best friend and confidante for many years. We both loved music and would sing together for hours. She was truly the kindest and sweetest person I know.

Delores was a great neighbor - I'll never forget when she and Gene delivered spice nuts to neighbors during the Christmas season when we first moved to Stephens City from NJ. It was very touching. And I was lucky enough to hear her beautiful voice last Christmas when she helped me in figure out the order in which to play traditional hymns and songs for Christmas caroling at Evergreen. She was very friendly and enjoyed others and will be missed. God speed Delores and condolences for Gene and the family.
