Diane Lee Mohler (Gruber) passed away peacefully on July 3, 2024, at the age of 75, at Valley Health Medical Center in Winchester, Virginia. Born on May 18, 1949, in Washington, D.C., Diane was a longtime resident of Gaithersburg, MD before retiring to Kirby, WV to live near family.
Diane dedicated over 50 years of her life to her career as a bookkeeper for the Columbia Typographical Union, showcasing her meticulous nature and commitment to her profession. She was a graduate of Robert E. Perry High School, Class of ’67, in Rockville, MD.
Known for her vibrant spirit and warm heart, Diane was a lover of life’s simple pleasures. She had a unique eye for antiques and enjoyed scouring flea markets, garage sales and roadsides for hidden treasures that she would use to decorate her home. Diane’s cats, Rex and Buddy, were her beloved companions in her later years, and she greatly enjoyed many years of hosting memorable gatherings and pig roasts for family and friends, at her home in Gaithersburg. She was also well known for the expansive and creative Christmas light and decoration display that she would put up each December in front of her home on Robin Court.
Diane is survived by her brother, Thomas and Mary Gruber; her nephew, Allen Gruber; her nieces, Lisa White and her husband Josh, and Laura Lusby; other extended family; and her most special life-long friends Maria Tacconelli and Linda Danley.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Marie Gruber; her sister, Marie Anne Lusby; and her partner, Marshall Crawford.
Friends may call to honor Diane’s life on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at 4pm at Omps Funeral Home, 1600 Amherst Street, Winchester, VA, where a Funeral Service will be held at 5pm.
