Dennis Lee Sirbaugh, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina went home to the Lord with the comfort of his family by his side on October 1st, 2017. Denny was born on February 10, 1945 in Winchester, Virginia to the late Gloria Juanita and Douglas Wilson Sirbaugh. In addition to his loving parents, one of his greatest adorations in life was his Grandma Curtis. He was a graduate of John Handley High School and the University of Maryland.
Denny spent a lifetime humbly serving the Lord through the Church of Christ. Nothing was more important to Denny than his faith and his family. He spent more than 40 years working for the US Government at home and abroad until he retired in 2008. With Ruth Ann by his side every step of the way, Denny proudly visited 46 states and 19 countries with Santorini, Greece and Venice, Italy being his most memorable. Second to his faith and family was baseball, he loved to tell stories about his childhood slugger heroes.
Denny married his amazing and devoted wife, Ruth Ann Brownlee Sirbaugh on July 3rd, 1971 in Alexandria, Virginia. Ruth Ann’s love, by far, was Denny’s most treasured gift.
Denny is survived by his wife, his daughter, Susan Wasserman (Joe), and his two sons Ryan and Chris (Kim). He is survived by his four grandchildren: Sam Wasserman, Diana Wasserman, Luke Sirbaugh, and Andrew Sirbaugh. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Meadows, her children, Wendy Ford and Christy Meadows, and their families.
Family will receive friends on Friday, October 6th from 6-8pm at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Denny will be laid to rest on Saturday, October 7, 2017. A service will take place at Church of Christ at Mountain View at 11am with Evangelist Chuck Doughty officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Hebron Cemetery.
