So sad to hear of Denis’s passing. I remember him as a counselor at Timber Ridge when I was a kid about 30 years ago. Denis was a good fair guy. I also remember his lovely wife Sara, she was one of my teachers. Seeing this, even after so many years make me sad. I have great memories though. He help put me back on the right track as a kid. He played a large roll I’m my success. That sad part is that he probably never knew it. Rest I’m Peace

Dear Sarah, Megan, Emily and Patrick, It is with great sadness that we learned of Dennis' passing. I will always remember Dennis fondly for the many lives he touched at TR and the very special memory of his budding relationship with,Sarah, the new teacher on staff. Dennis and I started working in 1978 at Timber Ridge School. We worked together for about 25 years but rode together to work for about 15 years. We not only worked together but we grew up and matured together. Words cannot express the impact that he had on my life, I already miss him but knowing that he is in our father's hands gives me great comfort. Sarah, Megan, Emily and Patrick, always know that Annette and I and the Finley family will always be here for you in whatever way that we can. God has truly taken another Angel home. I was told that there is nothing wrong with leaving, if you have a place to go....Heaven on High! Love you much.

Big Daddy Kish...my man...you took so many of us under your wing. You were the rock during many situations and now it's our turn! You're a good man and you will never be forgotten...there are just to many good memories! I was gonna try and bust you out for one last trip to play the ponies...but your higher power has other plans for you! Take care my friend!

My first year at Timber Ridge had me learning so much from staff and students alike. I remember being assigned to a student outing with Dennis and a group of students. I cannot remember the activity, but I do remember afterwards, Dennis stopped by an outdoor ice cream shop and personally paid for the boys' ice cream. They were enjoying it and laughing, clowning around, etc., when Dennis spoke. He asked them if they were enjoying the ice cream, and they all said "yes." He said, "Yes sir. It is good. I wondered if you liked it because no one said thank you. When someone does something nice for you, you are supposed to thank them." So, of course, all the boys thanked him for the ice cream. That was Dennis--never missed an opportunity to teach a good thing to those students.

Dennis was a major part of the life-changing decade I spent at Timber Ridge. He was my best friend and confidante. He was so proud of his children and so in love with his wife. He was one of the greats and will be painfully missed. Now I picture him making God crack up over one of his good stories. Sarah, Megan, Patrick, Emily.....everything Dennis was....kind, wise, caring, loving, compassionate, thoughtful, athletic, stubborn....lives on in the hearts of friends and family who will never forget. Love you all.

Megan Kish left a message on April 26, 2015:
Dear Mom, I know that you'll be reading these some day down the line like I was, and it will be filled with the same laughs and tears. We couldn't have asked for a better father, role model, or friend- you had good taste. You both are such wonderful parents to Patrick, Emily, and myself. We can't thank you enough, and I wish that I could have expressed it more. Whether it be getting that extra green light when we're running late to church or just little reminders of him throughout the day, he will always be watching over us. You know that he's keeping Heaven on their toes as he did with all of friends, coworkers, students, and family. Your similarly passionate values and morals are what have made us such a strong family, and we will continue to be strong and make him proud. I can't thank you enough for being the family's rock and can only hope to be half of the mother that you have been. I love you, Megan

Dennis was a wonderful, thoughtful and funny guy! I was in the Therapeutic Rec program at Shenandoah University shortly after Dennis graduated. I first met him when he brought kids over from Timber Ridge to participate in a program I was working on. We also shared the love of basketball! I know he is missed. I just read about his passing in the Shenandoah Alumni magazine. My sincere condolences to Dennis' wife, children and entire family.

I've known and worked with Dennis at Timber Ridge school for the 15 years I was there. He would tease me ruthlessly, because we grew up in the same area in Penna and had rival high school football teams. He and Sarah's daughter Megan was born only a month before my youngest son and I would run in to Dennis periodically around Winchester and it was always a happy reunion. A truly great man on many levels was lost to us. My thoughts and prayers are with Sarah and their children.
