On August 5, 2024, our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Cynthia “Cindy” Curl Tyson, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer.
Cindy was born February 27th, 1953, in Winchester, VA, the daughter of the late Ethel and Kenneth Curl. Cindy is survived by her sister, Linda Bursey of Stephens City, VA.
At the age of 14, she fell in love with the boy who would stay with her for the rest of her life, Charles “Benny” Tyson. Benny and Cindy had a bond that could not be broken. Cindy was the heart of her family, finding so much joy in using her talent in the kitchen to cook meals to bring her family together. Cindy will be greatly missed by her sons Chad and wife Casey of Salem, VA; Christopher and wife, Kristi of Winchester. She was the biggest cheerleader & mentor to her grandchildren, Ayden & Jocelyn Tyson and Connor Gleason.
Cindy was a graduate of Handley High School, Class of 1971. She was a Master Gardener from the MSV, and her talent was evident in her beautiful home and garden. She was known for her beautiful soul, her love for her grandchildren and her infectious laugh, to name only a few. You could often find her sweet smile and kind spirit at the Frederick Co. visitors center, where she has worked for over 15 years.
At Cindy’s request there will be no services. A celebration of Cindy’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork St., Winchester, VA 22601.
