Clarence E. Jennings, Jr., 85 of Winchester, VA, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at his home.

Clarence was born in 1939 in Woodstock, VA, the son of the late Clarence Edwin Jennings, Sr. and Jessie (Lambert) Jennings. He was a graduate of Woodstock High School and served our country in the United States Navy post Korean Conflict as a Cryptologic Technician (CT) (E-4). During his first marriage, his first child was born while serving at sea, then his second child was born after being honorably discharged. Clarence retired in 1990 as a firefighter for the New Orleans Fire Department. He was also a school bus driver in New Orleans and for Frederick County Public Schools in Virginia. Clarence attended St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Woodstock, VA. Clarence enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Sly Fox Golf Club. He loved listening to bluegrass music, cooking (even Cajun style) and preserving and canning food. Clarence did his own farming at their home in Frederick County. He was an avid New Orleans Saints fan, enjoyed fishing, and shrimping with nets when he lived in Louisiana.

He is survived by his wife Eunice (di Benedetto-Allen) Jennings, whom he married on February 3, 1984; son, Todd Edwin Jennings (Leslie) of Slidell, LA; step-son, Donovan Patrick Allen, Sr. of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Richard Allen Jennings, Jessica Lynn Jennings, Gabrielle Jennings, Madelyn Jennings, and Cameron Jennings; step-grandchildren, Donovan Patrick Allen II and Jessica Paige Allen; and great-grandchild, Baylen Jennings.

Along with his parents, Clarence is preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Ann Jennings; stepdaughter-in-law, Susan Paige Browder Allen; sisters, Jane Sullivan, Leah Ann Garber, Alice Shaver and Mary Wolfe; and his brother, Wayne Jennings.

A celebration of life will be held for Clarence on Friday, November 8, 2024, at 2pm at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel in Winchester, VA.

I was lucky to meet Clarence at the Sly-Fox golf course and to play many rounds of golf with him. He love to tell stories about the fire department and everything about his granddaughter and her track accomplishments. He loved his family dearly. I will miss you and will see you someday at the firehouse kitchen table in heaven.

It was special to have you as a step-father. I will cherish the times together especially for family holiday gatherings and the sharing of these notable moments together. You took me on my first Virginia hunting excursion that is remembered with keenly with a smile Thank you for the wonderful years with my Mom and the happiness you brought her. It is an honor to assist with the arrangements for your Celebration of Life as we release you to your next stage with fond, loving memories of a life well lived and loved.

Growing up with you as a father, and friend, is the greatest gift anyone could receive. My memories will never fade. Love you dad!
