Chris Steven Yeatras
Chris Steven Yeatras, 89, of Winchester, Virginia, fell asleep with the Lord, Monday, July 29, 2013, at the Lynn Care Center, Warren Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Yeatras was born in 1923, in Winchester, Virginia, the son of the late Steve and Stella Yeatras. He was a graduate of Handley High School, class of ’43, and attended Penn State. Mr. Yeatras was a Veteran having served in the United States Army during World War II. He served in the 95th Infantry Division, Iron Men of Metz, under General Patton. He was the Owner and Operator of the Winchester Billiard Center, retiring in 1985. Mr. Yeatras was a member of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church in Winchester. His favorite moments were spent with his family, especially at the beach in Ocean City, Maryland.
He married the love of his life, Venus Schooley in 1949, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She preceded him in death on June 25, 2009.
He will be missed by his two daughters, Stella Koukides and husband, Harry, of Baltimore, Maryland, Angelica Tselepis and husband, Nicholas, of Wyckoff, New Jersey; son, Steve Yeatras and wife, Ianthe, of Chantilly, Virginia; grandchildren, Sophia Vasilios and husband, John, and George Koukides all of Baltimore, Maryland, Krislyn Yeatras, Jonathan Yeatras, both of Chantilly, Virginia, Dean Tselepis and wife, Mary, of Manhattan, New York; great grandchildren, Frankie and Harry Vasilios; sister, Kulla Katunas of Winchester, Virginia; brothers, Dr. Peter Yeatras and wife, Pitsa, of Winchester, Virginia, Dr. George Yeatras and wife, Georgia, of Winchester, Virginia; sister-in-law Barbara Schooley of Cincinnati, OH; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
One beloved grandson, Christopher Tselepis, of Wycoff, New Jersey, and beloved sister, Helen Apostolopoulos, of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, preceded him in death.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening, from 6:00-9:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. The Trisagion Service will be conducted by Father Stanley Voyiaziakis at 7:30 pm.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Saturday, at the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 1700 Amherst Street, Winchester, Virginia, with Father Stanley Voyiaziakis officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, Virginia.
