Cherie Joyce (Yundt) Mason, age 72, of Winchester, VA, passed away peacefully at home on March 17, 2026.

She was born on September 17, 1953, in Jacksonville, Florida, the daughter of the late Jack Wayne Yundt and Ruth Naomi (Fike) Yundt.

Cherie is survived by her husband of 31 years, Ron Mason, and by her children, Ray Lowery, Christina (Lowery) Drake, Daniel Lowery, Amanda (Lowery) Johnson, Christopher Mason, David Mason, and Jennifer Mason. She is also survived by her brothers, Jack Yundt and Jerry Yundt, and by thirteen grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Cherie is also survived by two fur babies (puppies), Merci and Lucy.

In addition to her parents, Cherie was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Yundt.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister, Cherie dedicated her life to caring for her family. She traveled the world and lived in Spain, Hawaii, and visited Alaska. She had a gift for creativity and art and enjoyed making the world a more beautiful place. She painted, sketched, and crafted wonderful treasures. Above all else, she loved fiercely, unconditionally, and with all her heart.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Omps Funeral Home at 1600 Amherst Street, Winchester, VA, on March 28, 2026, from 3:00-5:00.

I met Cherie when I was young through her grandmother/my great aunt Floris Hixson Yundt. Our paths crossed many times through the years usually at Aunt Floris' house often with Cherie's mom and dad, Jackie (as my mom Nancy Hixson Glaeser called him) and Ruth. One of the last times I saw her was when she, Ron, my mom, my brother (Karl) and I visited and had a tour of (by the current owner) the house that was built by our 5th great grandfather in 1750, Timothy Hixson. That was great day. I am so sorry for your loss. Cherie was a wonderful person and will be missed terribly by everyone who knew her. I'll be keeping all of you in my thoughts. Love to you all.
