Charles Hzifredo Montoya, 85 of Winchester, VA passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023 at Winchester Medical Center.

Charles was born in La Sauses, CO in 1938 the son of the late Pedro and Matilde Montoya. He graduated from the University of St. Louis with his Master’s Degree in Social Work and was currently working on his PhD. Charles spent his career as heling others as a social worker. Charles was a member of 1st Presbyterian Church. He also volunteered for the Peace Corps for 3 years.

He is survived by his wife Joan; daughter, Sonya Montoya of Melbourne, FL; brothers, Pete Montoya of Pueblo, CO and Sam Montoya of New Mexico.

A visitation will be held for Charles on Thursday, February 9, 2023 from 6pm to 8pm with a service the following day, Friday, February 10, 2023 at 11amheld at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery.
