Charles Ellsworth Boyd, 99, of Stephenson, Virginia, died Friday, August 5, 2016, at his residence.
Mr. Boyd was born in 1917, in Frederick County, Virginia, the son of the late Strother W. and Sarah V. Boyd. He was a graduate of Handley High School, Class of 1935. Charley was Veteran having served with the United States Army. Together he and his wife Esther were the owners and operators of Tip-Top Radio and Television for many years. Charley was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He can be remembered for his love of all animals, country and bluegrass music and his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
His wife of 63 years Esther V. Boyd, whom he married on July 28, 1948, in Winchester, Virginia, preceded him in death on July 28, 2010.
Mr. Boyd is survived by his daughter, Bette P. Jenkins, of Stephenson, VA, three grandchildren, Jeff Jenkins and his wife Rose of Winchester, Virginia, Scott Jenkins and his fiancé Michele of Winchester, Virginia and Vicki Valenzula of Winchester, Virginia; four great-grandchildren and six, great-great grandchildren with one more on the way; one brother Strother H. Boyd of Stephenson, Virginia as well as many extended family members and close friends.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at 11:00 AM with Pastor Ken Smith and David Owings officiating. Interment will take place at Mount Hebron Cemetery.
