Charles “Tinker” Edward Edmonds, Jr., age 81, of Middletown, VA, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2025. He was the son of the late Charles and Gladys Edmonds.
Charles was a 1963 graduate of James Wood High School.
Shortly after graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy in July of that year and served aboard the USS Intrepid. After returning from military service, he worked as a diesel mechanic. He owned and operated P&E Garage in Middletown and later worked for Warren County Public Schools, where he retired as a diesel mechanic and bus driver for the sports teams.
He married Roxie Wetzel on November 27, 1985. Charles enjoyed hunting, pitching horseshoes, watching NASCAR—especially as an avid Dale Earnhardt fan—and cheering for the Washington Redskins. He took great pride in his grandchildren and loved to brag about them. He was a member of the Strasburg Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his daughters, Beth (Charlie) and Sally (John), both of Winchester; and Rhonda Likens (Bill) of Strasburg. His grandchildren include Aliza Parker (Josh), Tyler Beaver, Elizabeth LeMarr, Candace (Joe), Shannon (Megan), Josh (Vicki), and Brandon (Lindsay); as well as 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Shirley Purltebaugh and Pat Riggleman. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Roxie, and her daughter, Sherrie Grant.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Round Hill Church, with Pastor Doug Rinker officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the church, located at 2993 Northwestern Pike, Winchester.
A private interment will be held at a later date.
