Charles Arthur “Chuck” Polen, 84, of Waterford, Virginia passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2020, at Inova Loudoun Hospital.
Chuck was born in 1936 in Claysville, Pennsylvania, son of the late Arthur D. Polen and Anna F. Burris. He graduated from LaSalle Extension University, earning a Business Administration degree and continued his education at Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics, earning an Associate’s degree in Specialized Technology. His love of aviation was undeniable. In the past, Chuck had been an Aircraft Mechanic, Maintenance and Engineering Instructor, Flight Ground School Instructor, and retired as an Audio/Visual Specialist Technical Foreman in Engine Maintenance from USAir. He enjoyed sharing stories of his life and career. Chuck always kept himself busy. He loved building aircraft models, gardening, singing, and playing the guitar. Chuck was a past volunteer with Volunteering in Policing with the Winchester Police Department. His greatest passion was spending time with family and friends. Chuck was a member of Sunnyside Presbyterian Church.
He married Mathilda Sandoval on August 24, 1974 in Moon Township, Pennsylvania.
Surviving with his wife are daughters, Laurie Ann Polen of Port Angeles, Washington, Diana Christine Myers (Brian) of Waterford, Virginia, and Amy Beth Polen of Ashburn, Virginia; grandchildren, Colton Lee Myers and Aubrey Noelle Polen; five siblings and a large extended family who admired and loved him dearly.
