Charles Arthur “Charlie” Hamilton, 89, of Frederick County, Virginia passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 27, 2019, at Lynn Care Center.
Mr. Hamilton was born in 1929 in Shenandoah County, Virginia, the son of the late James and Beulah Hamilton. He graduated from Strasburg High School and was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Hamilton worked at Abex Corporation, retiring after 28 years of service, and after retirement worked as a groundskeeper for Frederick County Parks and Recreation at Sherando Park. He was a former member of the VFW and attended Cedar Creek Presbyterian Church.
His wife, Emma Celina Hamilton, whom he married on June 25, 1955 in Hagerstown, Maryland preceded him in death in 2015.
Surviving is a daughter, Paulette Virginia Kenney of Winchester, Virginia and a son, Charles W. “Bill” Hamilton (Debbie) of Stephens City, Virginia; grandchildren, Jeremy W. Hamilton (Crystal), James T. “Travis” Hamilton (Raelyn), and Kassi S. Scruggs (Phillip); and great grandchildren, Kylynn, Brady, Sydney, Emma, Morgan, Easton, and Rhett.
Along with his parents and his wife, Mr. Hamilton was preceded in death by a brother, Lewis W. Hamilton.
A visitation will be from 6 pm to 8 pm on Monday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Tuesday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Rev. Dr. Rose Wayland officiating. Interment will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Stephens City, Virginia.
Serving as pallbearers will be Richard A. Keeler, Ronald B. Keeler, Jeremy W. Hamilton, James “Travis” Hamilton, Kassi Scruggs, and Phillip Scruggs.
