Carmen Marian O’Rork Miller, 74, of Winchester, VA died Tuesday, September 27th, 2016 at Winchester Medical Center.
Ms. Miller was born February 5, 1942 in Orlando, FL the daughter of the late Charles T. and Carmen O’Rork. She attended Florida State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in 1964. Ms. Miller was an accomplished artist whose magnificent artistry comprised of many disciplines, oils and water colors were her favorite media. One of her favorite subjects to paint was her grandchildren. Her works were displayed in art galleries and she was privately commissioned by many people which included prominent community dignitaries. She was an art teacher at John Handley High School for 28 years where she taught, mentored and inspired her adoring students to be great! She also taught at Daniel Morgan Middle School for a year before her retirement. She then became an adjunct professor at Shenandoah University. Ms. Miller was also a member of O’Rork Arts, Ltd., Shenandoah Arts Council and Shenandoah Valley Artists Network. She was a long time member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church where she taught Bible Study.
Surviving is her daughter, Heather Cammer and husband, K.C. Cammer of Winchester, Virginia; sister, Cathleen Beckendorff of Colorado Springs, Colorado; brother, Robert P. O’Rork and wife, Merryl of Hollywood, Florida; sister-in-law, Sharon O’Rork of St. Cloud, Florida; grandchildren, Courtney Cammer, Grace and Megan Everly.
Ms. Miller was preceded in death by her brother, Charles J. O’Rork.
A memorial service will be conducted on Monday, October 3, 2016 at 4 p.m. at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 26 W. Boscawen Street, Winchester, VA with the Reverend Martha Miller-Sims officiating.
