Carl Eugene Hower, II, 56, of Frederick County, VA passed away on Friday, January 9, 2015 in Envoy Rehab and Residential Home in Sunnyside, VA, after battling many years with multiple sclerosis.
Mr. Hower was born in 1958 in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of the late Daniel E. and Louise E. Hower. He was a 1977 graduate of John Handley High School. During his early adult life Carl was employed by several local businesses, including Servisoft of Winchester, Arthur Fulton Trucking, Swift Transportation, and Simbeck until this debilitating disease forced him to retire in the mid 1990’s. After his retirement he would spend many days at the Apple Blossom Mall walking, if his body would allow him to, or just sitting and sharing stories and the gospel with anyone he could. Carl was undoubtedly a fun loving, hardworking, easy going man with an exceptional gentle kindness about him. He was of the Baptist faith and belonged to the Free Patriots of Northern Virginia.
When Carl’s illness demanded more intensive care he was welcomed into Heritage Hall Health Care, Front Royal, VA and was provided 2 years of care, after which time he moved to Envoy Rehab and Residential Home, Sunnyside, VA spending his remaining 13 years of his glorious life. Carl touched so many lives by his unwavering bravery and upbeat attitude while struggling every day with his illness.
Surviving is a sister, Kimberly H. Dicks (William), Inwood, WV; brothers, David F. Hower (Lesley), Winchester, VA and George G. Hower (Donna), Winchester, VA; numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, caregivers and hospice volunteers.

Tears are falling on earth, but cheers are ringing in heaven as he takes up new residence with his family and friends that have gone before him into the Lord’s Kingdom.
The family wishes to express their utmost gratitude to all who have cared for their dear brother.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, with Rev. Kenneth Patrick officiating at Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum.
