Bruce Daniel Feltner
Bruce Daniel Feltner, 87, of Frederick County, VA died Friday, September 16, 2016 at Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Feltner was born in 1929 in Winchester, VA, the son of the late John M. and Blanche V. Feltner. He wore many hats; was a self-employed contractor, worked at Hash Auctions, and was employed at Merchants Tire from where he retired in 1992. Mr. Feltner was a member of Old Bethel Grange Hall Church and a Deacon at Fairview Evangelical Brethren Church in Winchester. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and carpentry; going to auctions and purchasing treasures that he would take home to restore; and loved watching his favorite baseball team, the Washington Nationals. In the past Mr. Feltner had coached little league baseball and umpired for the same. He was also a volunteer with the Virginia Defense Force (Home Guard) in Winchester. Above all else he loved spending time with family and friends.
Mr. Feltner married Hazel McKee Shanholtz on February 15, 1999 in Winchester, VA.
Surviving with his wife is daughter, Shirley A. Boone; sons, Larry B. Feltner (Terry) and Randy K. Feltner (Cynthia); sisters, Madge Shelly, Dorothy “Tootie” Loy (Larry “Jugger”), Linda Pugh (Robert), Sharon Shores (William); brothers, Herbert Feltner (Francis), Alfred Feltner (Mary), Roger Feltner (Phyllis), Douglas Feltner (Linda) and Gary Feltner (Rozella); grandchildren, James “Jamie” J. Boone, II (Michelle), Martin “Marty” L. Feltner (Christy), Melissa D. Boone-Lambert (Craig), Matthew J. Feltner, Jessica A. Feltner-Tinordi (Mark), Cory H. Feltner (Kristi), Keith D. Feltner, Timothy W. Feltner (Kelly); Stephanie Konzal, and Wayne A. Feltner (Amanda); stepchildren, Maurice and David Legge, Cynthia Brown (James); and thirteen great grandchildren.
Mr. Feltner was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Viola Feltner; daughter, Pamela S. Feltner; son, Monte B. Feltner; brother, Jack Feltner and his late wife, Thelma “Lucille”; son-in-law, James J. Boone; brother-in-law, John Shelly; grandchild, Jordan B. Feltner; and stepson, Edward Legge.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. The service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Pete Wadsworth and Pastor Carl Menefee officiating. A reception will follow Bruce’s Service at the Omps Reception Center, Amherst Chapel. Following the Reception interment will be at Mt. Hebron Cemetery, Winchester.
